PHOTINUS STUDIO was founded in 2012 by the following artists & musicians: Max Robotov, Lera Polianskova, Ivan Svitlychnyi, Georgiy Potopalskiy. Formation’s main activities are connected with:

- creation and development of interactive light & sound installations, objects & scripts;
- direction of multimedia shows;
- mapping;
- work with VR, light, digital technologies, and art;
- education and experiments in Photinus School.

Co-founders’ works took part in international art exhibitions - Venice Biennale, Transmediale Vorspiel; music and light festivals - Strichka Festival, KievLightFest. Some projects were created upon the request from SigmaBleyzer, Motorola, INTEL, the State Administration of Kyiv (realization of music and light shows of fountains, restored in 2017 on Independence Square)

At first, Photinus was supposed to be a studio for experimental work with digital instruments (sound, video, programming, etc.)

Later Photinus gradually transformed into the formation of artists, programmers, engineers, united by an interest in new media art.

His main areas of practice are electronic music, media, and visual arts. Georgiy is a co-founder of PHOTINUS Studio and BLCK BOX School - the first school of New Media Art, with courses for leading media artists.

He helped to implement and stage a number of projects that are important for the modern cultural life of Ukraine: the staging of the electro-acoustic opera "Limb"; operas "Wotzeck", AEROPHONIA, GAS (formation "New Opera"); musical and light fountain shows on Independence Square.

Ivan Svitlychnyi

Artist, lector

His artistic practice is associated with the new media and science art. Ivan is a co-founder of Shukhliada Exposition Environment and PHOTINUS Studio.

Ivan Svitlychnyi is a member of the interdisciplinary cultural organization "Institution of Unstable Thoughts" since 2015; a participant in the Ukrainian pavilion of the 57th Venice Biennale; a participant of Transmediale Vorspiel 2018 (Berlin, Germany) and Digital Cultures Festival 2019 (Warsaw, Poland).

He is also a four-time PinchukArtCentre Award nominee and laureate of the Malevich Prize 2018

Lera Polianskova

Artist, lector

Lera Polianskova works in the field of video and sound art. She is a member of SVITER art group; a co-founder of Shukhliada Exposition Environment and PHOTINUS Studio.

Lera is also a member of the interdisciplinary cultural organization "Institution of Unstable Thoughts"; participant of the Ukrainian pavilion of the 57th Venice Biennale; Transmediale Vorspiel 2018 (Berlin, Germany); Digital Cultures Festival 2019 forum (Warsaw, Poland).

Max Robotov

New media artist, musician, curator, and lector

His main artistic practice is related to sound and new media art. Max is a member of SVITER art group; a co-founder of Shukhliada Expositional Environment and PHOTINUS studio.
